BELGIUM vs ENGLAND
KICK OFF: Saturday 14th July 2018 | 15: 00 CET
WORLD CUP THIRD-PLACE PLAYOFF | ST. PETERSBURG STADIUM
Can England settle the score with Belgium before returning home?
Belgium and England meet for a successive time in Russia 2018 World Cup, with a third-place finish on the cards this time out. Having lost to France and Croatia respectively, team spirit is on a low, and we can expect both managers to rotate their squads for fresher players to have a touch in this World Cup.
Michy Batshuayi, Adnan Januzaj, and Thorgan Hazard are likely to start for Belgium, among other possible changes. Gareth Southgate will only be spoilt of choice because he has another complete team on the bench. Butland might start in goal with Cahill and Jones filling the centre-back positions. Danny Rose, Alexander-Arnold, Eric Dier, Jamie Vardy and Marcus Rashford are also in contention.
With both teams having nothing to lose, this is set to be an open clash with goals assured at both ends. England, however, will want to revenge their 1 – 0 loss to Belgium in the group stages.
- England has scored the most goals from set-pieces in this World Cup, nine in total.
- Belgium failed to score for the first time in this World Cup – against France.
