BRAZIL vs MEXICO
KICK OFF: 2nd July 2018 | 15: 00 CET
KNOCK OUT ROUND OF 16 | SAMARA ARENA
Will Mexico’s bad Form in the knockout stages Continue Against Brazil?
Five-time world champions Brazil battle Mexico for a spot in the quarterfinals. Will past experience prove the difference in this one? Mexico lost to Sweden on matchday three, albeit qualifying but their history at this knockout stage doesn’t favour them.
The Selecao, on the other hand, are yet to hit top form collectively given that their main frontman Gabriel Jesus is yet to score while Neymar has only scored once. Phillipe Coutinho has been the influential figure for Brazil, and he’ll be the key to unlocking the Mexican defence.
Brazil eased past Serbia in their last group game, and we can expect them to carry on with that confidence and see off Mexico.
- Mexico has reached the round of 16 stage in the last six previous World Cups and lost all.
- Brazil has played Mexico four times at the World Cup; W3, D1.
- Brazil has conceded just one goal in all their last eight games
