COLOMBIA vs ENGLAND
KICK OFF: 3rd July 2018 | 19: 00 CET
KNOCKOUT ROUND OF 16 | SPARTAK STADIUM
Can England qualify? Anticipate a high-scoring game against Colombia
England could not have asked for a better draw, nor a better route to the final. Gareth Southgate’s 1-0 loss to Belgium may turn out a blessing in disguise, but England should not get carried away just yet with Colombia to face in the knockout round of 16.
The South Americans started off with a 2-1 loss to Japan, but they bounced back in grand fashion to win two games in a row and finished top of Group H.
The omens are in England's favour given that the Three Lions have not lost to Colombia in their only two previous encounters. However, they should not underestimate the South Americans who are capable of taking advantage of the slightest opportunity.
As such, we can expect Colombia to find the net while backing England to outscore them.
- Colombia has registered a goal in all their last eight World Cup matches.
- England has only failed to find the net once in all their 18 knockout games at the World Cup; 0-0 draw with Portugal, 2006.
