Egypt vs Uruguay
Kick Off: Fri 15th June 2018 | 13:00 CET
Group A Round 1 | Ekaterinburg Arena
The Pharaohs can avoid defeat to La Celeste
Egypt is a clear dark horse in group A, and they kick off their World Cup campaign against Uruguay. The North Africans will hope Mo Salah can continue his excellent form in front of goal and help them qualify from the group. But, that depends on whether he will be fit enough to cause problems or not, and if the rest of the team can throw everything at Uruguay.
Finishing 4th in 2010 and eliminated in the round of 16 in 2014, Uruguay’s experience in this tournament combined with the current strong squad is enough to see them top their group, which also includes Russia and Saudi Arabia.
The South Americans have won the World Cup twice; 1930 and 1950, while Egypt failed to record a win from two previous appearances. For this particular match, I see Egypt securing a point.
