SWEDEN vs SWITZERLAND
KICK OFF: 3rd July 2018 | 15: 00 CET
KNOCK OUT ROUND 16 | SAINT PETERSBURG STADIUM
Should Sweden be wary of Switzerland’s fine form?
Sweden made it through a difficult group which included Germany and Mexico, comprehensively beating the latter 3-0 to top group F. They last progressed past the round of 16 in 1994 having been knocked out at this stage in 2006 and 2014 since.
The Swiss will fancy their chances of making their first leap into the quarterfinals since 1954, given that they play a relatively weaker, albeit, unpredictable opponent.
The two teams met last in 2002 in a friendly match that ended a 1-1 draw.
- This will be Sweden’s 50th game at the World Cup tournament. Only Mexico has played more games, 53, without winning the title.
- Switzerland are unbeaten in all their last nine games.
I’m backing Switzerland to advance, and this match could produce goals too.
