Real Madrid 2 vs Liverpool 2
Kick Off: Sat 26th May 2018 7:45 PM CET
Zinedine Zidane’s men will walk through the tunnels of Olympiyskiy Stadium in Kiev with a job to finish in their minds. Just a win and they add another trophy to their archive. At least, something for this season. Madrid had a point to prove last season, and they did it. They have also proved that they can stroll to a third consecutive final, even if they have to eliminate the likes of PSG, Bayern and Juventus. Now they are in the finals of their most beloved competition.
Their opponents this time is an ambitious Liverpool side who want nothing but reward for the efforts they’ve made so far. Jurgen Klopp’s men haven’t looked dangerous on paper, yet they’ve always shown that on the pitch. Going away to Porto and scoring five was fantasy and beating Manchester City home and away was unexpected. They hit another five against Roma in their home turf, however, losing the away leg that didn’t matter much anyway.
So the Reds have a zest, and perhaps it can propel them to winning the final in Kiev. To them is more about living their dream. They’ve come a long way, and although reaching the final itself is a major milestone, the title will define another historic moment for the club. Liverpool will become the only team to have started from UCL playoffs to lifting the trophy. Will anyone else care about that?
Real Madrid, of course, have the Ronaldo factor, and the Portuguese hitman has always been decisive in big games. Two goals against Liverpool will see him match his own Champions League goalscoring record of 17 goals, and he’s motivated as ever.
With Madrid facing the highest scoring team in this competition, it’s certain that both teams will find the net, given their defensive issues too.
• Madrid has the Ronaldo factor, who has always been decisive in big games.
• Liverpool’s front three have scored the most goals in this competition, 29.
Top Tip Both teams to score. Liverpool to Win
