SEVILLA VS VILLAREAL
KICK OFF: SUNDAY 26TH JULY 2018 | 20:15 CET
LA LIGA wk2 | ESTADIO RAMON SANCHEZ PIZJUAN
Can Sevilla record their first home Win of the Season when they host Villareal?
This is arguably the most interesting game from week two of La Liga. The two sides shared the spoils on Sevilla’s ground last season with plenty of goals.
The Andalusians begin this campaign with newly appointed coach Pablo Machin, and he has already shown that he can compete after a 2 - 1 Super Copa loss to Barcelona. A loss it may have been, but we saw a side committing men forward playing with high-intensity. Sevilla should have no problem seeing off a Villareal side that that haven't beaten them in their previous five meetings. Pablo Sarabia will fancy his chances of scoring in this one.
The departure of striker Carlos Bacca saw Villareal boss Javier Calleja make aggressive moves in the transfer market and he’s brought in three centre-forwards. Santi Cazorla also joined from Arsenal and center-back Funes Mori from Everton. These players are expected to make the first eleven, but the trip to Sevilla comes too soon for the squad to settle.
With Sevilla facing their fiercest rivals Real Betis in the next league game, a home win will give them confidence before the trip.
Key Match Facts
- Sevilla’s Pablo Sarabia has scored 11 times in 2018, more than any other Sevilla player.
- Only one of Villareal’s games ended without a goal in all their games in 2018, a recent friendly against Angers.
