ST. ETIENNE Vs GUINGAMP
KICK OFF: Saturday 11TH August 2018 | 19:00 CET
LIGUE 1 WK1 | STADE GEOFFROY-GUICHARD
Expect ST. Etienne and Guingamp to cancel each other out on the opening day of Ligue 1
St. Etienne play host to Guingamp in what is set to be an engaging encounter. Everything points to a close tie and both teams settling for a point would not be a bad result for either to kick off the new season.
The home side enjoyed fantastic form in the second half of last season, thanks to the appointment of Coach Jean-Louis Gasset. In that period, Gasset refused to lose to the likes of Lyon, Marseille, and PSG and concluded the season with a 5-0 thumping of Lille. St. Etienne looks poised to continue from where they left and the lack of European action this term means they can focus on the league.
Guingamp finished their pre-season preparations without defeat, providing great momentum going into this fixture. Stand-offs against high-profile opponents in the later stages of last season also show that Guingamp can be stubborn on a good day.
The away side welcome PSG on matchday two, so collecting at least a point in this one is a must. Although Les Verts won this fixture last time out, we can expect Guingamp to resist a defeat this time around.
Key Match Facts
