TORINO Vs ROMA
KICK OFF: SUNDAY 19th AUGUST 2018 | 17: 00 CET
SERIE A wk1 | OLIMPICO DI TORINO
Can on-form Torino resist dominant rivals Roma?
The visitors won both the first and reverse fixtures last season but can they upset the hosts again?
Torino surrendered their 7-match unbeaten run to Liverpool in a 3-1 loss, and they now shift their attention to Roma’s visit. Walter Mazzarri has made some significant upgrades to the team with the signings of striker M’Baye Niang, defensive midfielder Soualilho Meite, and centre backs Armando Izzo and Nicolas N’Koulou. This side will be solid defensively, but they’re not short of firepower either, especially when Iago Falque and Andrea Belotti are fully functional.
Roma comes into this match at the back of a 2-1 loss to Real Madrid. While we can expect Torino to cause them a few problems, the away side has always found a way to humble the hosts. Except for Javier Pastore, Di Francesco hasn’t made any major signings, but this team is still well-balanced. Forwards Diego Perotti, Edin Dzeko and El Shaarawy scored a combined 28 goals last term and it’s easy to see at least one of them finding the net in this one.
The home side can notch up a goal, maybe two, but the Romans will prove too strong and take all three points.
- The last five encounters between Torino and Roma have produced an average of 3 goals.
- Both Torino and Roma have scored in all their last five matches.
Top Tips: Roma Win | Over. 2.5 Goals
