VALENCIA VS ATLETICO

Will Atletico Madrid finally Surrender their unbeaten run against Valencia?
Valencia has not had much of a say recently against Atletico Madrid, but they can stand their ground this time out?
Perhaps it’s the job that Marcelino was appointed to do – to stop Valencia’s humiliation at the hands of Atletico Madrid. Last season, Marcelino’s side let in just one goal over two legs against Diego Simeone’s outfit, even though they didn’t win any of those matches. That was a significant improvement all the same given Valencia had lost in all the previous four encounters and conceded ten goals in the process. Los Che has bolstered their ranks with newcomers Michy Batshuayi, Mouctar Diakhaby and the permanent signing of Geoffrey Kondogbia. We can expect them to challenge this season.
The Europa League champions go into this encounter four days after they battle Real Madrid for UEFA Super Cup in Estonia. That match plus the travel will surely take the toll on Simeone’s men, but they still should not be underestimated. Thomas Lemar was an expensive addition to the squad, and he can provide pace and creativity to a side known for their direct approach. Much may be expected from Diego Costa and Antoine Griezmann, yet these two have barely touched the ball since returning from Russia.
That said, I see Marcelino's side running riot this time.
- Valencia has not scored against Atletico Madrid in their previous four games.
- Atletico Madrid is unbeaten against Valencia in all their last seven encounters.
