BOURNEMOUTH vs CARDIFF
KICK OFF: SUNDAY 11TH AUGUST 2018 | 15:00 CET
Premier League wk1 | VITALITY STADIUM
Will Bournemouth's opening day woes continue against Cardiff?
AFC Bournemouth welcome newly promoted Cardiff City on matchday one. This will be their first ever meeting in the top flight league. Bournemouth has the home advantage and experience, but Cardiff may just upset the odds in this fixture.
Bournemouth has acquired only two new additions to the squad; midfielder David Brooks and left-back Diego Rico, yet these lads may need time to settle. The Cherries first eleven remain unchanged, and we can expect last season’s club top scorers Callum Wilson and Joshua King to play a part. Midfielders Ryan Fraser, Jordan Ibe, and Junior Stanislas are also available, while Nathan Ake has become a prominent figure at the backline.
Newcomers Cardiff will want to prove their Premier League credentials, and there’s no better way to make a statement than opening their account with a victory. Manager Neil Warnock has strengthened every department by bringing in striker Bobby Reid, winger Josh Murphy, full-back Greg Cunningham and keeper Alex Smithies. The new signings will be hungry to show their worth, starting with the visit to the Vitality Stadium.
Bournemouth will be organised, but Cardiff’s ambition should see them secure their first win.
- Since promotion in 2015, Bournemouth has never won their opening match in the Premier League.
- Bournemouth and Cardiff meeting has never failed to produce at least a goal.
