WATFORD vs BRIGHTON
KICK OFF: SATURDAY 11TH AUGUST 2018 | 15:00 CET
Premier League wk1 | VICARAGE ROAD
Brighton Can Shock Watford with a Win on EPL Opening Day
Watford and Brighton were involved in two tight contests last season which saw only one goal scored over two legs. The fixture at Vicarage Road last August ended in a barren draw, but the same outcome is highly unlikely this time out.
Watford boss Javi Garcia has prioritised strengthening his backline with the signings of defenders Ben Wilmott, Marc Navarro and Adam Masina. Securing a permanent deal for forward Gerard Deulofeu and the signing of goalkeeper Ben Foster also underlines Garcia’s intention of moving away from the drop zone. A win against Brighton will give them a good start in this new Premier League season.
Although Brighton narrowly survived relegation failing to score in 12 out of their 19 games on the road. Chris Hughton has bolstered his attacking force with the signing of Florin Andone, and the striker will be expected to assist in the goals department alongside Glenn Murray. Brighton has Manchester United and Liverpool lying in wait after this fixture, so the Seagulls will want to avoid defeat in this encounter.
Goals at both ends make a smart bet and don’t be surprised to see the visitors win after ninety minutes.
- Brighton last recorded an away Premier League win on November 4, 2017 (against Swansea).
