Complaint Summary
I am filing this complaint regarding my experience with Spree and the handling of my account, funds, and redemption requests. While using the platform, I was actively playing and had set aside funds outside of my pending redemption. During my gameplay, a large and highly noticeable prompt appeared within the game encouraging me to either “buy more” or “cancel redemption.” The prompt appeared while I was actively playing and, in my view, was presented in a way that was confusing and created pressure to make an immediate decision.
I ultimately canceled my redemption requests, but I did not fully understand that doing so would result in the funds being returned to my playable balance and subsequently becoming available for continued gameplay. I continued playing and lost approximately $8,000. I contacted Spree requesting assistance and explaining the circumstances, including that I believed there had been a technical or design issue surrounding how the redemption cancellation was presented and understood.
Rather than meaningfully investigating the circumstances, Spree denied my request and subsequently restricted/locked my account. I have repeatedly requested documentation and information explaining exactly what occurred, including information regarding the redemption cancellations, the prompts presented to me, the basis for Spree’s decision, and direct contact information for management or someone with authority to address the matter. Those requests have either been ignored or met with repetitive, copy-and-paste responses.
What is especially concerning is that Spree appears to have made a final decision without providing me with the information I repeatedly requested or demonstrating that the circumstances were actually investigated on an individual basis. I am not simply asking Spree to reverse a normal gaming loss. I am asking for a fair review of the circumstances surrounding the redemption cancellation, the manner in which the cancellation prompt was presented while I was actively playing, and the subsequent loss of approximately $8,000.
I believe a company handling financial transactions and redemption requests has a responsibility to provide clear, transparent information to its customers, particularly when an in-game prompt can cause a customer to cancel a pending redemption and immediately return those funds to gameplay. I am requesting that this matter be independently reviewed, that Spree provide the documentation and information I have repeatedly requested, and that the company explain precisely how the redemption cancellation process was presented to me and why my concerns were not substantively investigated before my account was restricted and my request was denied.
